"Oisin"

"Oisin"

$525.00

The bowl was made by the talented Jeff Goodson and is true piece of artwork by itself. The bowl measures 7 1/2 inches x 7 1/2 inches square and stands at the corner right around 3 1/2 inches tall. It is made from cherry.

I saw it and was drawn to the center of this bowl and the eyes staring back at me.

Oisin means young deer in the Irish tongue. Oisin’s mother had been turned into a deer by a druid because she refused his love. She then wandered the woods until a

hunter’s dogs laid by her and the hunter knew there was something different about this doe. He begged the doe to

follow him to the gates of his kingdom and when she entered the gates, she then turned into a young maiden

and they soon married. The hunter was called to war and his kingdom was taken, the young woman refused the Druid

again and she then was again turned to a doe, but she did not know she was pregnant. She had their son in the

woods and seven years after her disappearance the hunter went the woods and was faced with a young child that

resembled his wife. He realized it was his son and was named Oisin. This is my interpretation of this young man. I had always

thought he would be in the form of a young buck, but with human like eyes and that his father glancing upon would know and

the spell be broken yet again.

Put in a dish washing machine. This will ruin your item! Hand wash your wood bowls and when done apply a small amount of oil to it. You can use Olive Oil or Mineral oil, which your wood bowl has already been treated with. Keep doing this and you should have your item should last a good while. If the bowl looks dry, just add a little oil to them.
