" The Last Dream of Arctodus Pristinus" 4x6 Giclee print
My paintings, whether being a watercolor or acrylic, are a special part of me. It’s an intimate look into my soul. This is why they take me forever to complete, but they are so worth the long wait.
It has been a journey of 3 years. A lot has happened in these 3 years to me and those around me. As I get older the meaning of existence, life, and living, have rumbled in the background. This is titled, " The Last Dream of Arctodus Pristinus". This one has been a heart walk for me. Have you ever wondered what it would mean to be the last of your kind? Would you know you were alone? Did Arctodus pristinus, , know when it closed it's eyes, that it was the last? I follow a lot of animals as they're labeled endangered, it breaks my heart. Most are doomed because of man and not natural selection. I found myself struggling to paint the last 2 images in this painting. As I write this I struggle with the emotion. The last breath was he alone or was he joined by his loved ones to cross over? I like to think he walked with his loved ones.
An artist hides intimate parts of their souls in their work. When you see these creations it's a part of them. It may not be perfect, but it's theirs. Some write, some paint, some recite poetry, some dance, you get the point, but all share a deep connection, of a reflection of what makes them....them.
This is for a 4x6 matted giclee print signed and numbered.
